I bought this laptop for my college classes. I bought this laptop cause it was cheap and I only need a laptop for basic requirements like online classes and assignments. So, low specs would not have been a problem for me. I am not a computer science or engineering student so I don’t need programming/coding. All I needed was fast internet browsing and battery life. This laptop failed both the purposes. Not even two weeks and this laptop started getting slow. The battery would last only 1-2 hours when the specs says the battery life is around 7-8 hours. I could barely use it for one class. I couldn’t use it for my 5 hour upper division lab class either. The laptop also would stop responding in middle of working. There was also a weird sound when the laptop would start and it would also come when I would play any video. The screen also had started flickering. I would start a video and the screen would start flickering then black out and stop responding. I would have to shut it down using power button and restart the laptop. This issue started occurring very often. So, I had to return it. I already got the refund so that was nice.

First off, don’t let the title scare you, it’s a great deal. The screen, unlike previous iterations, is gorgeous for the price – crisp and detailed. You can probably find the specs elsewhere complaining about SRGB coverage, but for the average user, sub $500, it’s great. Seems like it gets close to 300 nits, definitely bright enough indoors. Keyboard is very nice, not MacBook Air or the like, but very close – much better than Acer/Asus/Samsung. Trackpad along the same lines, very good overall, if you really want to nitpick, the clicking of it wasn’t the best on the edges for right/left click. Sound was decent, definitely a laptop speaker and does not get too loud. Fan noise isn’t noticeable unless you’re used to absolute quiet, the fans spun up under load when setting things up and windows updates, quiet and not grating on the ears. Build quality won’t wow anyone at the coffee shop but the plastic resembles brushed metal and it’s appealing over, say, the millionth grey laptop. Moderately serviceable under the hood, with one ram stick being soldered on (4 gb). Ignore the other reviews bashing you’s delivery service instead of the product itself, this is a sleeper Windows laptop. Highly recommended for research/browsing, writing, and light gaming. I’ve actually gone into the BIOS and unlocked the processor to get full access to the performance of the 5500u and it’s impressive, I’ve run Diablo 2 Resurrected at a very playable (although not great) frame rate and even managed some Halo Infinite at 30fps at lowest settings. By no means would I buy this laptop to game unless it’s older games or Esports, but it is possible to punch above it’s weight, which is a huge bang for your buck.

If you’re wondering if this laptop will run your favorite games at least at medium or low settings, YES. Don’t let the low price fool you, AMD has upped the laptop game with this processor. I’m running Fortnite with a steady 120fps on 1080p High settings. And this is only with the one 8gb stick of ram. If you add one more 8gb stick, which costs like $50 or so, you will increase the performance a LOT because this AMD processor relies on having both RAM slots occupied to run best. I’m only using the one 8gb stick and it’s running this well, so if you spend the extra $50 you’ll have a really good laptop for casual gaming at the same price as a PS4 right now. We’ve come a long way from before when all computers that you could even think about running any sort of game on costed atleast $700, and that’s for a desktop. I love it.

Never buying Lenovo again. I haven’t even been able to use the laptop, been trying for over an hour. 1, b4 using laptop, you HAVE to be connected to internet. So, don’t have wifi where you are? No option to skip, laptop functionally dead. 2, it tries to force you to create a Microsoft online account, no option to skip. 3, I thought, ok, survived both those, now I can start using laptop. No, you have to sit for hours while it forces an update to windows 11. Which u wanted to avoid.
Long story short, if you’re in a homeless shelter, hanging on by a thread, and you’ve desperately waiting for this laptop delivery so you can start looking for work… too bad, Lenovo is too busy trying to force you into things that aren’t necessary.

The headphone jack does not work for any of my equipment. Apparently this laptop has a “combo jack” that may or may not be the problem. If I would have known of this issue before ordering, I would have went with another brand. I’ve tried contacting customer service, but they have not been helpful.

The computer works just fine and is exactly what I wanted. I’m not a gamer but someone who uses it primary for personal computing needs and a little for business type needs (planning, research, Microsoft suite, etc.). My only complaint was that I was expecting it to have the ability to turn on and work immediately out of the box. I’m used to laptops having a partial charge brand new or at least working if I plug into the wall. Nope, not this time. I actually thought I bought a dud when it would not power on. Computer support for Lenovo was a joke. They said they would call me in a few days to help me. Wasn’t what I needed to hear after dropping hundreds on purchasing this brand new device. After searching message boards, I learned not-turning-on-brand -new is common for this device and that you have to let it charged a few hours untouched. I gave it an hour, nothing. I gave it two hours, nothing. After the third hour it turned on when I pushed the power button and I haven’t had any problems since.

Overall quite pleased with it after a couple months. The battery life seems underwhelming. Still haven’t gotten used to the trackpad which isn’t ideally placed for me. Because Windows 10 OS is really just terrible at privacy and took a half hour to “turn off” countless unwanted features, the forced automatic updates always happen at the worst time so I had to install a partition of Linux Mint 20 OS on the hard drive. Glad I did, as I use Mint 99% of the time and only use Windows 10 crapware when absolutely necessary.

This is a good laptop for basic internet stuff, which is all I needed. However, the constant Lenovo ads are infuriating. I’ve checked all of the settings options and tried a few tutorials on how to remove them, but nothing has worked. If I previously had any desire to purchase their antivirus program or more Lenovo products, that has turned into anger at my inability to control what I see on my own computer. If the Lenovo team sees this and would like to help remedy this issue, that would be much appreciated

I’d given an OK rating. I like the size but it’s heavier than I would’ve expected. It’s very touchy so I think I have to go through my settings and see if I can fix that.

I really enjoy this computer! It’s easy to use. I have had no problems with it and I have been downloading some big software from the get-go like R, RStudio and the Adobe creative cloud. The battery life is not crazy good but I usually have a lot going on at the same time for work. If you ever have the startenu refuse to go away on your home screen, your computer is in tablet mode. Don’t freak out!

I use it for email, ordering stuff, watching videos, tuning my guitar, and whatever else comes along. So far it has been very good. It came with Windows 10 S but 10 S limits which apps you can download so I removed 10 S back to just 10 . The instructions to do this were glued to the outside of the box! I had to cut the box to add the paper to the documents I am saving. I don’t know what the advantages of 10 S are and when you remove it you can’t bring it back. I had to remove it to use my McAffe security software.

I bought this while convalescing from open-heart surgery away from home, mainly to handle the large quantity of e-mail newsletters I receive daily. It’s ideal for that, and for most web-surfing. Long battery life, with relatively fast recharge, decent (for a laptop) keyboard, very good non-touch display. Processor is more powerful than most users will need, but I like having extra processing power. Only 3.5 pounds, it’s easy to move from room to room.
Biggest downside is the somewhat small 250GB SSD, but even that is more than most people who consider this laptop would ever need. I plan on outfitting it with an external HDD or SSD if/when such becomes necessary. This is an *additional* laptop (I have another, more powerful one that I use at home), and will use this one mostly while traveling; at barely 3.5 pounds, it’s ideal for that purpose.

I love this laptop, it’s able to handle youtube, 2 browser tabs, and my discord open at the same time without causing lag or making the laptop fans go off cause the laptop is working harder(that’s as much as I’ve had open at one time, haven’t tested the limit yet). The picture quality is great and the speakers are good. The only thing that so far has seemed to fall below par is the microphone. During a Google Teams class, they had trouble hearing anything I was saying so I found myself raising my voice to almost a yell. Even after messing with the mic input via the control panel, it still seems to just not transmit my voice loud enough. But that has been the only thing that has let me down.. so for the price, I can take that one drawback.

There’s nothing not to love about this laptop. Setup was super easy, and it has so many ease-of-use features, I’m still gobsmacked. I’ve only had it a couple of days, and here’s what I love already:
– The keyboard is excellent, with large letters and an adjustible backlight.
– Screen is bright and crisp.
– This thing is quiet! Even when the fan turns on, you can barely hear it.
– The bottom is designed to allow air to flow beneath it, so it doesn’t overheat.
– Battery life is impressive.
– At 3.2 pounds, it’s pretty light considering everything it can do.
– The deep blue color is such a nice change from black or silver.
My only concern—and it’s negligible—is that the casing is plastic, not metal. I’m a klutz, and I worry what will happen if I drop it.
I’m not a gamer, so I can’t speak to its usefulness for that, but so far it’s great for Adobe Creative Suite apps and Office 365.
At this price point, for this sweet little machine, you can’t go wrong. I literally have a crush on my laptop, lolz.

It didn’t arrive on time as expected but you did well by returning a portion from what I paid. I was scared about buying laptops online but to be honest, this has been a great purchase. Laptop came in its original box well protected and with no broken parts. I am surprised about the build quality, very sturdy. I didn’t buy it for gaming so I cannot tell anything about it. Keyboard experience is fantastic and it is backlit. It has the camera protection cover, finger print scanner good. Sound quality is decent but not like high definition. I mean, it’s a very nice device for $400 price range. AMD Ryzen 5 5500U works great. It has a total of 8 GB of RAM capacity with dual channel (4 GB soldered and an additional slot with 4 GB 3200 MHz) so I’d recommend to replace the extra 4 GB to 8 GB for more RAM. Graphics are great, it has AMD Radeon and the display viewing angles are good. Now it’s just about time to do some works and see how durable is this device.

I’ve been using this laptop for a couple of months, and I must say that when I got there I was fascinated by its design and performance, however, as the weeks went by, I noticed that a horizontal mark started to be noticed almost in the middle of the screen, I thought it might just be a dust stain that I didn’t give much importance to, however this mark became more noticeable to the point of being very annoying when using the device.I discovered that it was a mark from the friction /contact with a part of the keyboard when I closed it, a real disappointment because I was really happy with it, I only use it for college and some other multimedia content so be very careful when you transport it or when you close it, I leave with a bad taste in my mouth because I’m taking good care of my stuff and I don’t understand if it’s a design error or just a bad luck thing.I wish that the guarantee can help me in some way but being an article from abroad I do not have much hope, I hope that at least my experience will help you

In my case it came completely sealed without seal violations, the box had a small nothing worrying blow.
Inside it contains the laptop, its charger a booklet, and a very short manual (it doesn’t help much).
The laptop was completely unloaded so I left it loading for about 1 HRS and it was 84% loaded, I did the whole startup process and tested some of its features.
From 84% to 23% almost always with maximum hard brightness from 5 PM to 10 PM (5 hours).
The screen seems to me its weakest point, you can see it vertically, I can’t explain how, but you must find a good Angle, horizontally it’s ok, and I loved the anti-reflexes.I haven’t tried it outdoors so I know how the shine behaves.In general I think it is good, acceptable, if I change my mind I will say so.
The speakers I liked are loud and clear, I am not an expert in sound I am an average user.
The camera is bad, I honestly think it’s bad, in environments without natural light (inside a house, a room) it suffers a lot.
I haven’t tried games or heavy applications yet so I can’t comment on that aspect, although I doubt it will suffer.
Comes with 5.98 gb available ram, I understand that 2 are taken by the graphics card.
When it gets more use I will update.
I am an average user, engineering student, use software like solidworks, ansys fluent, and other simulators.

Bought this to replace an HP laptop 6+ years old that should’ve been replaced a long time ago. Painfully slow. Took forever to boot up. I couldn’t take it anymore. I stumbled upon this. My laptop for my job is a Lenovo laptop and I dig it. I’m actually Lenovo certified through work to perform warranty repairs, etc. so I’m familiar with Lenovo. This thing is amazing! I’m only using it for basic home useage: banking, taxes, etc. I have a PS5 for gaming. This is light years above the HP which I’m sure I paid twice the price for. Boots up fast and plenty fast for what I use it for. I removed McAfee and put Avast on it. It’s smaller than my hp which I deem a good thing. I’m liking Windows 11 home, as well. When I first attempted to install Avast I was prompted to go to the MS store for all app installations but I easily resolved that. This is a great laptop and I don’t believe you’ll find anything comparable at this price. Amazing. I’ll be wiping the hard drive on my HP today! Wooo whooo!

I purchased this laptop originally for videoconferencing, web browsing, and watching movies, but was pleasantly surprised with how it did in gaming. 120+ fps in fortnite on high at 1080p, 60fps in minecraft with medium settings, 120+ fps in league and smite on medium for each. This is after replacibg the 4gb sodimm that came with the laptop with a 16gb sodimm. Great bang for your buck if you can’t afford a more expensive “gaming” laptop.

I took my time before reviewing this laptop because I wanted to give myself time to get use to it and all the diffrences between this and my previous ones. So far, any complaints I might have had I already worked out to be differences in the hardware and/or OS compared to my old laptop. The only real complaint I have is I don’t entirely like the speakers. I haven’t been able to figure out if it is just me not use to it or if its an actual issue of placement and quality but I’m sure to most people it will either not be a problem or they will have something better connected. Other than that, this was a good buy and I’m really happy with it thus far.

I purchased this computer so I could play some of the newer online games. Games like Blankos Block Party, Decentraland, and the Sandbox wouldn’t work on my old Dell because of the outdated graphics. This computer provided a nice upgrade. My only complaint is this computer gets hot quickly. I purchased an external computer fan though and the computer stays cool.

Since my purchase, the battery life is dismal, a maximum of two hours before recharging. I have to have the power cord with me at all times. This is unacceptable given the choices out there today, including google chrome books and the new Apple M1 chip.
Recently the microphone volume is so low that people cannot hear me in Zoom meetings (virtual classes and workshop presentations). I spent more than three hours with both Microsoft and Lenovo technicians trying to solve the problem. The last “solution” is for me to send it to them for up to ten days, to allow them to wipe it and restore it to factory specifications and check the hardware.
My question is what else will go wrong. Updating, more things have gone wrong. The webcam has just recently blurred my image when I am on zoom. I have to use a headset with external mic so my students can hear me. Intermittently the mouse/trackpad will not work until I restart.
I am asking you to allow me to return this laptop, reimburse me and let me purchase a more dependable computer from them.

So far 1 week in good battery last 4-6 hours on mid performance, high performance 3-4 hours low performance 7+ hours depending on the task your doing. I’ll update review once I’ve used this laptop more one thing I will say is the build quality is good especially the keyboard and fingerprint reader. My other complaint is the mouse pad is poor quality it’s just not a good feeling would recommend getting a mouse and using it to the bare minimum. It does the job but it feels weird because of the plastic.

I purchased mine at a local office supply store in 2020. It started to have graphics issues, culminating in it being unusable in the spring of 2021. It was sent to lenovo for warranty service. Fixed in the 11th month. Now it has stopped working (and I’m a tech myself) in Nov 2021. This laptop was kept on a desk 99% of the time, so it wasn’t physically stressed.
Personally I’ll never buy an idea pad again – it’s cheaply made, compared to their business laptops. Quite a shame because when it worked, it was a respectable machine.

It is very compact which allows you to take it anywhere.

Keyboard and trackpad are very good.
Disassembly is very easy (although care must be taken as the cover is plastic) to be able to access the expansion modules which are the ram and the m.2 SSD memory.In this regard I recommend doing so to experienced users and at their own risk.It has a slot for 2.5 inch sata 6 disc but does not contain the cable for connection and in this version the 3-cell battery does not allow access as it occupies it completely.
It would be ideal with an SSD version of 1 TB and at least 12 gb of ram so you don’t have to change components for more demanding users who don’t know about hardware.
Finally, if you get it for less than $500 don’t hesitate to buy it.

1) replacement of 256gb m.2 SSD by a 1tb m.2 (according to crucial accept up to 2tb website)
2) replacement of 4gb ram with one of 16gb 3200mhz
3) downgrade to Windows 10

The laptop works super fast, I still do not try it with heavy programs but I imagine that the performance will be quite stable, the battery lasts more or less 4-5 hours depending on the use and the brightness, it does not heat up at all and you barely hear the fan, the screen is hd so the videos look good, good laptop and the price is a bargain, the only thing I do not like is the ram,2 the graphics card USES it so you have only 5.86 gb usable so you have to enlarge it.

Mainly bought this for online classes and to run data analysis software on it. Works great! Screen is a little on the cheaper side (its one of those screens you have to tilt back to get a decent viewing angle) but its not really a concern for the purpose i use it for. I purchased the 17in model so the screen is large and works great with multiple open windows. Keyboard feels a little weird not much travel to the keys but again not a big concern. Don’t really game on it but I did download a few STEAM games and they worked and ran great. The processor handles them no problem. Mine came with WINDOWS 11 which I have grown to like (great multi-tasking features!) I think it’s a great mid-range laptop that’s great for students and office work. Might be a good choice for casual/amateur gamers that want to get into gaming without paying $1200+ but definitely invest in a keyboard and mouse if you’re trying to be serious about your gaming. Like I mentioned before the built in keyboard is on the cheaper side.

Don’t know why people here are speaking about the touch screen nor there is a question about his quality, as there is non. The screen isn’t touch screen.

The only thing I had to do, is to contact lenovo as the warranty wasn’t correct, and I had to send them an invoice so they can update it with the correct data.

Got this as a replacement for my previous laptop which was less than a year old before it got damaged. I mostly use my computer for audio editing, web surfing and non-strenuous gaming. This one is great for the price – boots up fast, runs programs smoothly, and has a fingerprint scanner for quick log in. Comes with Windows 11 which has been fine so far. The backlight keyboard is really helpful in low light. I only use bluetooth headphones so I haven’t tested the speakers, but connection is fast and consistent. I did have some audio issues while using Audacity but that ironed out after a few weeks. Don’t expect it to handle high end graphics with these specs, but I don’t really care about fantastic performance for my games so it’s not an issue. If the most intensive thing you run is a few hours of Sims, this’ll be perfect for you.

This is a fine computer for what I need on the road except… I’m trying to find the sweet spot…the place were the screen matches the printer. If I move my head up or down just an inch the screen changes. If I move to the side the image disappears. It seems you are using “70s technology so you can save money. I bought it for my 12 year old son for his virtual high school classes and video games.The challenge was to get one with the 3 b’s and I used as a reference the roblox video game which should be able to run at its maximum resolution and FPS and this laptop did it without any problem.
This little test gives me the idea that this laptop has to last for my son until he graduated from his professional career hahahaha, if in the future I will only extend the ram and SSD, but surely this laptop will have a long life.

Overall, I like this laptop but the screen quality is an issue. Can’t see white objects clearly if at all. I had to change my mouse settings to get a black pointer. I am not a gamer so if there are any issues there it is of no consequence to me. Don’t like them and I haven’t even looked to see if I have one on this laptop. I did get a runaway screen at one point while I was trying to finish a transaction. I haven’t really tried to figure out why this happened (it was not the mouse) but I don’t think it was a security issue since I have my trial McAfee running.There are many other features that I do like on this laptop. This laptop is great. The SSD assures fast booting. The graphics card is integrated so it may struggle with certain programs that require a dedicated graphics card for heavy rendering like After Effects or Blender. I upgraded the RAM to 20gb (16gb Crucial sodimm + 4gb soldered) some of which is used by the graphics card. Lightroom works well. The ports are a great. It is lightweight. This is a great laptop for a student or professional who doesn’t need powerful rendering capabilities. It is a secondary laptop to my HP Omen. The Omen is more powerful but sometimes too bulky to carry around for personal use at a coffee shop. This laptop is impressive for $480 plus the Crucial RAM upgrade.

I hope you like waiting 6 hours for Adobe to update cause that’s what this garbage laptop does. Or that you love crashes. As soon as the warranty ran out, it slowed down to a crawl. All I needed it for was work and I can’t even use this piece of junk for that anymore.

It’s amazing for the price. Before this laptop I had a all in one dell pc, which as you can guess sucked. That pc was 800$ and this laptop runs 10x faster than that all in one. This laptop is FAST. It can do almost anything. Use it for school or even for gaming. I personally use it for both and it works just fine. Play games such as Fortnite or even some new AAA titles. This laptop was 100% worth the price.

this won’t blow your mind if you’re looking for a gaming laptop, but it’s a very powerful lenovo laptop at a price point you’ll only find with budget laptops rocking a Celeron or other wimpy CPU.
physically very lightweight and very quiet (fans hardly ever kick in, and when they do, they’re almost silent). it has a plastic body, but they make up for this by using a very attractive deep blue color, reminiscent of the old Silicon Graphics workstations and other 90s hardware I used as a kid. the keys are dark graphite with white backlit letters. one USB C port is the only downside I could see here (data only – no charging via this port)… though it does have a card reader and a fingerprint reader for the power button. the supplied charger is slim similar to the one you would find with a cell phone. comes with 4GB RAM soldered to the board plus a swappable 4GB (DDR4 3200MHz) which you can change out for 8GB to get 12GB total RAM. in terms of software, it comes with Windows 11 Home, which has the strange downside of requiring a Microsoft account to sign in and lacking the ability to join a domain and other more advanced networking features. minimal bloatware from Lenovo (all of which can be uninstalled, though you probably want to keep the Lenovo Utilities package to manage the hotkeys). comes with the “free” version of Office 360 as well as a 1yr version of McAfee Antivirus. this beats anything I saw at the big box stores in both specs and price; more than just a basic laptop. this matches or outperforms my Macbook Pro.

hinge broke do to faulty design 3 days before warranty up, broken hinge broke the screen and lenovo only warranties software so now I have a useless computer

I’m really happy with this product. The graphics are crisp and it is lightening fast. The one downside is the audio goes out while using Zoom sometimes.
